Parunthumpara (പരുന്തുംപാറ in Malayalam, local language of kerala ) is a small beautiful village in the Idukki District of Indian state of Kerala and it is located between Peermade and Thekkady.

The word parunth in the local language means Eagle and para means rock, so in English this place can be called as Eagle rock. It is called Parunthumpara or eagle rock because of a large area around like an eagle. Adventurous people will enjoy this place and you can climb to top of the eagle rock.
Best time to visit Parunthumpara is September to January. At that time this place will be more green and beautiful. Try to reach this place before 4:30 PM and you can enjoy misty atmosphere of fresh cool air :).
