Athirapally Waterfalls, Kerala Picture Gallery
Athirapally waterfalls is one of the largest waterfalls in Kerala state of India. It is falling from a height of 24-metres ( 80 feet ) and is in Chalakudy Taluk, Thrissur district and is located 1000 feet above sea level on the west-flowing Chalakudy River which is border of Thrissur and Ernakulam Districts of Kerala. Athirappilly Falls is one of the best places to visit in Kerala and is very popular destination among tourists.
How to reach Athirapally waterfalls
It is 61 km away from Thrissur and 72 km from Kochi ,
Nearest airport Cochin International Airport ( Nedumbassery ) is 55 km away.
Nearest town is Chalakudy which is 30 km away from the tourist spot.
Nearest Railway station is at Chalakudy, and Main railways station is Thrissur.
On the way to Athirapally, you may visit Thumboormozhi butterfly gardens and Ezattumukham eco village.

Alternative route from Kochi to Athirapally
If you are coming from Kochi , you can choose another route to save yourselves from road blocks. From Kochi MG road turn left towards highcourt junction , then take right, go towards Gosree bridge and take right to Container terminal road and you can reach kalamassery Appolo tyres Junction, then turn left to move towards Alwaye (Aluva), go straight till chalakkudy and turn right towards Valparai road, Athirapally is 17 km from Chalakkudy.

Notice to visitors to Athirapally water falls
- Entry time : 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
- Visitors should take ticket for entering into the picinic spot.
- Liquor and Smoking is strictly prohibited in this area.
- Plastic covers, bottles etc are not allowed.
- Visitors to Athirapally water falls enjoys bathing in shalow regions of the river, but the nature of river is unpredictables, sudden rains can cause increase in water levels quickly, so visitors should be cautious while enjoying the beauty of Athirapally river.
For those who are coming from Tamilnadu
Even though there is an alternative route from pollachi to Athirapally waterfalls ( pollachi - palakkad- trissur - chalakkudy - athirapally ) , beautiful route would be via valparai ( pollachi - valparai- malakkaparai -vazhachal - athirapally ). But the road is not much wide, some parts of the road is not in good condition, but you will never forget the beauty of this place / route.
When ever I visit Valparai , I choose this route ( Kochi - Chalakkudy - Malakkapara - Valparai ). I had gone through this route many times, still I love to go this way to valparai via athirapally from Kochin. There are dams, dense forests, rivers, waterfalls, very peaceful ambiance, if you have luck can see lots of animals too :)
