Govt of India considering the enforcement of British model strict Traffic Violation Penalties and Punishments
STRICT TRAFFIC VIOLATION PENALTIES AND PUNISHMENTS IN INDIA
Government of India is planning to implement a British model of traffic violation penalties in India which includes adding a negative point based system along with Penalty amounts and Serving time jail.
Each traffic offence will attract specific negative points on the licence.Once a driver accumulates 12 negative points, his/her licence would be suspended for a year. If a driver whose licence has been suspended still commits offences and accumulates another 12 points, the licence would be cancelled for five years.
Violation of traffic signals - Rs 500 fine and 3 negative points on his/ her licence
For not wearing helmet or seat belt -- Fine of Rs 2,500 and negative points . ( 2 points )
Over speeding : fine Rs 5000 - 10000 - 25000 ( 2/ 3 points)
Racing : fine Rs 10000 - 15000 - 25000 ( 2/ 3 points)
Fine of Rs 1,000 per hour on vehicle owners for disrupting traffic flow on any road.
Unauthorized driving : Rs 25000 fine
Using of vehicle without registration : Rs One lakh (100000) (3 points)
INDIAN TRAFFIC VIOLATION RULE - DRINK DRIVING PENALTIES - ALCOHOL DRIVING PUNISHMENTS
On testing a driver urine , if it contains 107 mg per 100 ml -- Rs 50000 fine / 6 months to One year in Jail / both - ( 3 negative points)
30 - 80 and 81 to 150 mg / 100 ml breath ---- -- Rs 25000 fine / 6 months in Jail / both ( 3 negative points)
If caught second time then drivers licence will be cancelled.
If a person is killed by an accident caused due to drunk driver, then he will be charged of Murder
If a driver whose licence has been suspended still commits offences and accumulates another 12 points, the licence would be cancelled for five years.
