Gmail allows you to put dots (.) in your gmail account but this dots are ignored by the mail server.
For example, If your email address is "testaccount@gmail.com", the emails addressed to test.account@gmail.com or te.stacc.ount@gmail.com will reach the inbox of testaccount@gmail.com.
Try sending an email to your gmail account after adding dots in the email id before "@gmail.com".
GOOGLEMAIL.COM DOMAIN
When you create an email account with GMAIL, you are also given another valid email address which uses the domain name "googlemail.com".
For example, If your email address is "testaccount@gmail" then you can access another email Id like "testaccount@googlemail.com".
